    lowered suspension on 57 wagon

    57 Ford Country Sedan...

I think the previous owner cut the front coils to lower about 1 1/2". It took a lot of work to get it to drive straight...but now the camber is causing uneven wear on the inside of the front tires.

    Manual steering.

I am wondering if it would be better to get new stock front springs and get dropped spindles. I put front disc brakes on...probably should have done this then. I also need to redo the rear suspension, bushings since those are still the original.

    I like the stance...any thoughts?
Suppliers for front coils and rear leaf springs? I seem to find the bushings/shackles etc in catalogs from Carpenter's, Concours Parts, Mac's.

    Thanks!

Hi Rob,  Sounds like someone cut to much off the front springs.  You can cut one full coil off the front coil spring and still have plenty of room for a correct alignment.  Granada spindles with disc brakes is a great set-up.  You will get about a 1 1/2 inch drop.  With a standard front coil spring with one full coil cut off and Granada spindles you get between  2.5 to 3.5 drop. You can still adjust ride height with different size tires and wheels.   This set-up will drive strait, stop strait and look great.  I have done this set-up many times.  For coil and leaf springs also check  www.jamcosuspension.com  or www.coilsprings.com   Thanks for stopping by,  John at www.1957ford.com
